Last Tuesday, I attended the monthly Knit for a Cause event with two coworkers (thanks for coming with me, gals!). I haven't knitted for quite a long time (maybe ten years?), so I was definitely in need of a quick tutorial. Once I got started though, I couldn't stop.
This month the group is donating 8" x 8" squares to the charity Knit a Square, which stitches the squares together to make blankets for AIDS orphans in Africa. I've been knitting away since the meeting, and I'm working on square number five now (four are pictured). I used a combination of new multicolored yarn (which I really like working with) and red and teal yarn leftover from a crochet class I took last summer. I'm super happy with the results, and am glad to know the squares will be put to good use.
just wanted to drop in and say how nice it was to meet you the other night at the wonder craft grand opening!
ReplyDeletegood luck with your knitting... I love charitable knitting/crocheting causes.
